Last night at the Democratic National Convention in Philly, Hillary Clinton officially accepted the nomination for President of the United States. But earlier in the day, more history was being made in the very same place. Our former cover girl (and activist and star of black-ish), Yara Shahidi, had the amazing opportunity to interview Rep. John Lewis.

She couldn’t contain her excitement (and who can blame her?).

In case you’re not up on all that John Lewis has done, check this. In his interview with Yara, he shared a lot about his experience as a teenage activist:
Yara: “You were a young leader during the Civil Rights Movement, and I was wondering whether the age disparity led to you being treated differently, being such a young voice.”
Rep. John Lewis: “Well, I got involved when I was very young. I met Rosa Parks when I was 17. I met Dr. King when I was 18. And by the age of 19, I was sitting in at lunch counters and restaurants. And I was elected chair of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee … in 1963 at the age of 23.”
