Promposal to Black Girl Uses Fried Chicken References and We. Can’t. Even.

Photo: Instagram

We’re all about the whole promposal thing (and if you haven’t seen our fave from last year, go watch it now — it. is. life.), but we had to do a double-take when we saw an IG photo of a recent promposal from a white boy to a Black girl.

In the photo, they’re both wearing Kentucky Fried Chicken crowns, the guy is wearing a “Now We’re Cookin'” shirt, and the girl is holding the promposal sign that says, “I Prefer Dark Meat. Prom?” Take a look:

So he sees her as a fried chicken eating "piece of meat"😑 ladies please respect your #Melanin. Lost coons & negropeans are blind to this type of blatant racism. This is why I don't understand when black feminist feel the need to bring up their stereotypical assumptions of black men as an excuse for dating & marrying the other nations. Don't put us all in a box @martinlutherdaiii spent like 2 weeks covering the #blackfeminist conspiracy & I posted an article about why Black women are leaving the Feminist movement a few months ago. But it seems like some member's of the younger generation are still sleep to shit like this. ##knowthyself #killuminati #rbg #blackisbeautiful #hairstyles #naturalhair #blackart #blackgirlsrock #blackisbeautiful #blacklove #blackqueen #blacklivesmatter #amerikkka #nubian #negus #blacklove #prom2k16 #tupac #melaninpoppin #knowledgeofself #blackconsciousness #foodforthought

If we’re being all the way 100, we can’t help but see that promposal as borderline racist — with its fried chicken references and what not. Like, for real, for real? It’s not cute or funny and someone needs to drop some serious knowledge on dude.

What do you think about the photo? Would a promposal like that make you feel some kinda way? Tell us in the comments below!
