Every girl deserves to be pampered from time to time. But if you don’t have the funds to hit up a swanky spa, create your own! Follow these steps to turn your bedroom into a spa for you and your girls.
Step #1: Set the mood.
Create a spa-like atmosphere by dimming the lights. Cover lampshades with silk scarves and light a few candles that are infused with calming aromas like lavender and chamomile. Set your Pandora station to “relaxation,” and chuck up your deuces to those school-day stresses.
Step #2: Have the right products.
You don’t have to run to the drug store to pick up a ton of beauty products for your spa day—just go to your kitchen. Cut an orange or grapefruit in half and use it as a loofah scrub to slough off dead, dry skin from your elbows, knees, and heels. Make an exfoliating body scrub by mixing brown sugar with olive oil. Chop up a cucumber and place a slice on each eye to soothe away puffiness. To give your hands an indulgent treat, warm olive or almond oil and dip your fingertips into the oil to treat rough cuticles. Tell your friends to bring their bathrobes and slippers to enhance the spa-like feeling.
Step #3: Don’t forget the snacks.
Skip junk food and opt for fresh fruits and veggies for a light snack. Also, make a refreshing drink by adding cucumbers to ice cold water or raspberries to iced green tea. For the cooler months, sip on a mug of hot chocolate, cider, or warm tea.
