Two of your faves are collabbing and starring in a new HBO pilot together: Zendaya and Storm Reid! The pair are cast to play characters Rue and Gia, respectively, in Euphoria — HBO’s new teen drama, adapted from an Israeli series of the same name.
Can you say #BlackGirlMagic?
Word about the show hit the streets soon after Storm took to Instagram to show her appreciation for this new chapter of her career:
Unlike anything you’d typically expect to see Zendaya or Storm in, Euphoria is edgy and raw, centering around “drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship as told by a lying, drug-addicted 17-year-old girl named Rue, to be played by Zendaya,” Deadline reports.
So far, only the pilot has been ordered, but if it goes to series, it will follow the same plot as the Israeli show, starting one year after the real-life murder of a teenager outside of a club and revolving around the lives of the teens left behind who witnessed the incident and how they’ve chosen to cope, according to Deadline.
The drama is also set to star other big names, so this show is definitely a set-up for success and a must-watch. No premiere date has been released yet, but be sure to keep it locked here for updates.
We can’t wait to see these two together on screen!
